Northern Lake District - Feb 2023

Rather than heading to Scotland for my birthday this year, we made the shorter trip to the Lake District staying just south of Penrith near to the impressive Lowther Castle. We did a number of walks over the long weekend around Appleby and Keswick and enjoyed on the whole excellent weather for Februrary.

The highlight of the trip was a long walk down the southern edge of Ullswater where we caught the steamer from Glenridding back to Howtown before walking the 8 miles back along the lake side path. This trip coincided with the best weather and we enjoyed clear skies and impressive backlighting to the Hellvelyn mountain range.

I’m always happy to be back in the Lake District with friends enjoying the scenery and some well needed rest and relaxation. Whilst I didn’t make any photography specific trips, I did take the camera out on our walks during they to capture a few memories from the trip.
